FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find your pizzas?
Glad you asked! We're available for pickup in NYC. You can order our pizzas here and pick up from our storefront at 63 Flushing Avenue, Building 152, in Brooklyn, Tuesdays - Thursdays from 4 to 7pm. Currently, shipping is also available across NY, NJ, CT, RI, MA and PA!
What separates us from your typical frozen pizza?
We're a new kind of frozen pizza, here's why:
- Crust + ingredients: we use sustainable, local ingredients including stone-ground American grains from Upstate New York. This gives our crust a distinct texture that's pillowy and crispy. Our process in selecting and sourcing ingredients is 100% transparent. We buy from farmers and producers who share our commitment to a more sustainable food system. We have carefully sourced each ingredient by considering not only the taste and quality of the product, but its proximity to our production - as local as possible!
- Italian expertise + technology: Italy is known for their unmatched expertise in producing foods of high quality craftsmanship supported by the best equipment and technology available. Our Italian team is constantly on the forefront of innovation in blast-frozen pizza. Every pizza coming out of our kitchen lab is a labor of love from our passionate team, but we're proud to use our carefully chosen equipment to bring you the best possible product.
- Women in pizza: we're proud to be a team of (mostly) women in pizza. Founded & led by Martina Rossi Kenworthy (Gustiamo, Slow Food New York), La Rossi celebrates and champions women in the hospitality industry.
- Slow Food New York City: a portion of our profits go towards supporting Slow Food NYC, recognizing their commitment to building a more sustainable food system centered around good, clean, and fair values.
How can I make sure my pizza is cooked correctly in a conventional oven?
Preparing one of our pizzas is super easy. Preheat oven to 400° Fahrenheit. Once oven is preheated, take pizza out of the freezer and remove all packaging. Place pizza directly on the oven rack. Heat until cheese is thoroughly melted or until pizza is to your liking. Recommended heating time: 7-12 mins. This time range accounts for the fact that ovens vary quite a bit in temperature distribution and accuracy, so start out with 5 minutes and add on time if you like it more crispy! If you have the La Rossi Just Crust, you’ll want to top it with anything you like (check our Instagram for ideas) - ex: a mix of roasted squash, onions, & gorgonzola, and then pop it in the oven until it’s heated through. Usually this will be between 4-10 minutes depending on the toppings.
Once it comes out of the oven, do you have any quick serving tips?
Serve the pizza immediately. We recommend drizzling some olive oil on top, adding fresh herbs, or topping with a sprinkle of chili pepper. A little fresh basil goes a long way.
What’s the shelf life of a La Rossi frozen pizza? And how do I store it?
Our frozen pizzas last in the freezer for up to 6 months. Once you purchase and receive your pizza, put it in the freezer right away until use.
We recommend putting your pizza in the freezer as soon as possible. If the pizza was still in its packaging and left sitting out for a while (potentially softening slightly), it is fine to consume although flavor and texture may be slightly affected.
What does 'blast-frozen' mean?
Blast-freezing is an innovative process that instantly freezes food by pushing very low-temperature air across it at a high velocity. It eliminates the formation of the crystals that cause “freezer burn” and ensures the original flavor and texture of your food is maintained. After fully baking our pizzas, we wait for them to cool, then we vacuum-pack and blast-freeze them in our pizza laboratory, keeping them fresh until you heat them again at home.
How many servings is in each pizza?
Our pizza is designed to be an individual serving, but they’re great for sharing as an appetizer.
What safety precautions are you taking during the COVID-19 pandemic?
We have developed a comprehensive COVID-19 safety plan that guides our kitchen operations in order to keep our team and customers safe. When picking up your pizza order at our West Village location, please wear a mask and socially distance from fellow customers and staff. Contactless delivery is available, just make a note upon check-out.
